Mighty River of KALTENG
The rivers of Kalteng remain important communication and transportation highways, penetrating deep into this exciting land. Kalimantan is roughly translated as River of Diamonds.
Whether traveling by exhilarating speed boat, slow boat (soon to be launched Tangkiling boat) or traditional klotok and even canoe, this is a perfect way to reach the upstream tributaries and observe the emerald green jungle where trees from each bank often meet and monkeys play overhead, kingfishers diving in a burst of color.

Jungle and Kalteng Highland Trekking Trek into the jungle with a Dayak Guide and spend the night in a campsite prepared by your guides, falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle night.
Continue on to the upper reaches of Kalteng's Mighty Rivers and upstream tributaries, the Katingan, the Kahayan and the Kapuas, and trek through Kalteng's Highlands stretching from Bukit Raya across to the Schwaner Mountain range. Pass exotic flora and fauna and far away long-houses, notably the remains of the long-house at Tumbang Anoi. Famous as the site of the great peace conference organised by the Dutch in 1894, Tumbang Anoi hosted representatives from 30 Dayak Tribes of Central Kalimantan who agreed to stop head-hunting.
The people at Tumbang Maharoi, the last village on the Kahayan River, pan for gold and weave fine rattan baskets. Beyond there, even further inland, there are nomadic groups
who are seldom seen, even by settled villagers. It is said that they live exclusively from hunting and gathering.
